Rememberence Day - 9th November 2008
In rememberence of those who gave their lives in battle in the past, and those who continue to do so to this day in conflicts around the world.. We will not forget you..
If I Should Die
If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England. There shall be
In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;
A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,
Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam,
A body of England's, breathing English air,
Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.
And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.
Rupert Brooke

Great post for British soldiers. And what about us Germans and Austrians?

Remembrance Sunday is the day traditionally put aside to for the British people to pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the service of our country. It was originally started to commemorate the war dead of the First World War, but after the Second World War the scope was extended to focus on the dead of both World Wars. In 1980 the scope was further widened in remembrance of all those who have suffered and died in conflict in the service of their country.
I, for one, do not forget that there are two sides to every conflict and there are people who mourn the loss of loved ones on both sides.
That was one classy answer.
